FOSS vs ROS Match 7 Review
Captain Cool clinches series for FOSS
ROS 141 all out in 20 overs (Limewire 45, Frostwire 3-38, Amarok 2-10) lost to FOSS 141/9 in 20 overs (Clamwin 77, Trillian 2-17)
It was as it was expected to be. An evenly matched series with a lot of sweatshed ( and a bit of bloodshed too) was always going to go down to the wire ( read the last ball). And as Blender came to the crease with two runs to get off the last ball, his thoughts would have been only on one thing: Get out of line of the stumps and whack the ball over mid-on.
In the end, he just about managed to get bat to ball and scamper to the other end. Scores tied - this wasn't over yet.
It wasn't so early in the day when ROS self-destructed in front of a (comparatively) efficient FOSS attack. Photoshop got off to a start but the rest of the batting simply collapsed and very soon ROS were six down with less than 50 on board. It took some sensible batting from Outlook and Limewire to get them to 141 which simply wasn't enough on this pitch.
Tell that to the ROS attack. Every single member stuck to their guns as they stifled FOSS into a tight position with four down before double digits were placed in the runs column on the scoreboard. From there on, it took an innings of sheer brilliance (Clamwin) and another of sheer fortuitousness (Filezilla) to get them to the total. Well, nearly almost as the lower order capsized before Blender sneaked one to tie the scores.
ROS got a chance to go first in the Superover and they went in with their captain and Winrar. The duo took the score to 9 before Amarok trapped Winrar in front of the stumps. Nero added a boundary and almost added another six with a shot similar to CuteFTP's match-clinching shot in the 4th T20. This time Firefox plucked the ball almost out of thin air and the scoreboard read 13/2. 14 to get in one over for FOSS to win the match and with it the series.
Drupal came out to bat and launched the first ball for six. Seven to get off five - should be easy enough. Notepad has different notions though and the next four balls went for four including a beauty which took out GIMP's middle stumps. Four to get off the last ball - and Drupal calmly spoons it over the keeper's head to take FOSS across the finishing line.
